Where is your homebase, Lisa?
Collegedale, TN
What type of races do you enjoy?
Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, Triathlon, Road Running, Time Trial
What have been your 5 race highlights so far?
You can ask me again tomorrow and I will respond differently. There are little things in life that sometimes makes me think about past races that really brings back memories that make me smile. I raced over 125 triathlons and just as many running races, but today my most memorable races are:
*2003 Tri the Pee Dee Triathlon Sprint: My first OA win in a triathlon.
*2014 Ironman Coeur d’Alene: This was my 5th and slowest Ironman race by a few hours, but I realized during the race that I was still doing what I loved and sucked it up.
*March Mauler Duathalon 8k run/50k bike/8 k run: This was an early season race that was just dreadful. I lost 9 pounds had an age win and placed well overall.
*Hilton Head 10k: This was an out back 10k and I had a head wind heading back. I came through the half way point in 22 minutes and finished in 42 for the overall win. At the half way, I was with the lady who beat me in the same race by less than two seconds the previous year. It wasn’t my fastest race, but probably my fastest negative split.
*2012 Mountain Madness Half Triathlon: This was my only DNF. Turning in that timing chip was harder than any race, but making the decision not to finish was the smartest decision I’ve ever made.
What is a cycling dream of yours?
My dream ride is touring Italy on bike. My goal is riding 112 miles in Kona.
What is your favorite place to be around Chattanooga?
In the mountains of NC riding on the road or trails near Dupont.
What has been your best moment on the bike so far this year?
Heading out on the gravel roads in the Ocoee with my husband and the guy who designed my bike.
What is the first cycling memory you have?
I was about 5 years old sitting on my front porch with my bicycle when my dad arrives home from work and the conservation goes something like this:
Dad: What are you doing?
Me: Taking the training wheels off my bike
What is your favorite piece of gear?
Helmet. I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for helmets. I have nice collections of bruised helmets, but the last crash resulted in several cracks in the helmet.
Why do you like to ride & work-out with other women?
Nothing beats a great comrade and the friendly competition.
What has been your best moment with the Velo Vixens so far?
It was my first year as Vixen in 2010 at the TN State Time Trail. The first race as a Vixen still holds a special place in my heart.
What’s your advice for a future Velo Vixen?
We are a great bunch of ladies and you will not regret joining.
