There’s something incredible about taking part in the development of a trail system in your own backyard.  While I only spent a couple hours of my time volunteering at Stringers Ridge, I was grateful to give back to my community.  With its grand opening just weeks away, the Velo Vixens showed up in force with smiles on their faces and tools in their hands.  We shoveled dirt, trimmed trees, raked, laughed and had a blast.  I was amazed at what so many people in one space with one objective could accomplish in such a short amount of time.  It’s a testament to the amount of work we could all do if we each volunteered just a little of our time to maintaining our trail systems.  Stringers Ridge Park is now open and being enjoyed by all thanks to many people who dedicated their time and sweat to the project.  I’m happy to have played a part however small.
