Meet the Board for 2021

Introducing Ashley Main, President

Hey y’all! I’m Ashley and I’m honored to be your president for the 2021 year! I have been apart of or served with the Vixens for 6 years now! I joined in 2015, as a runner and also new to mountain biking. I absolutely love the outdoors and we try to spend as much time in nature as possible! You’ll find me racing road races, mountain bike races, triathlons, as well as hiking and paddleboarding. I’m a mama of 2 and try to bring them along with me as much as possible. I’m really looking forward to this year, especially after a rough 2020. My hope is that we can come together, through sport, to build stronger friendships, learn from one another, and grow as a community!

Introducing Monica Desjardins, Vice President

Hi all, my name is Monica Desjardins and I am serving as your Vice President this year. I have been Secretary the past two years and am excited to continue serving you on the board. I also lead the race team. Last year was a challenge, but it led to some new experiences that I am really grateful for. I am now homeschooling Ellia and working with Covid patient’s instead of primarily stroke, which means a lot of learning on my part. Thankfully I have cycling to help decompress all my crazy. Most of my races were canceled which challenged me to try more self supported events. I completed the Trans North Georgia and Death March Revival routes, something I never really thought I could be capable of doing. I really enjoyed the self supported aspect and look forward to more ultra endurance races this year. I also enjoyed being able to spend more time with Thom and Ellia, since we were all home together. This year I am super excited to participate in our club challenges and virtual races we are rolling out. As VP, one goal is to strengthen our sponsor relationships and find those that work best for our club. Another goal is to be an advocate for our members. I’d really like to get a lot of feedback from ya’ll to make this the best club. So if you have any ideas or want to be involved, give me a shout!

Introducing Blair Brown, Treasurer

Hi y’all, my name is Blair Brown and I’m your treasurer! I’ve been a member of the Vixens for three years and have never been on the board, but I’ve served as treasurer in the past for the Taco Mamacita Women’s Race Team (where I wasn’t very race-y!) and then also for Scenic City Velo (still not race-y!) for several years.I’m originally from Birmingham, but Chattanooga has been home for over twenty years. I adore this city! We have any outdoor activity at our fingertips as long as it doesn’t involve snow. We are so fortunate to live here! I’m primarily a road cyclist, but I also enjoy running, hiking and paddleboarding. I’m looking forward to having more opportunities to meet new Vixens this year, and getting myself back in century shape!

Introducing Kathy Martin, Secretary

Hi Vixens! My name is Kathy aka Bunny, as I have been introduced to some of you. (Bunny is my grandma name). I’m the secretary for the board this year and have been a member of the Vixens for a few years…mostly cheering for, and supporting my biggest claim to fame…..drum roll….Monica!!!! My loves in life are family, 2 adorable little dachshund boys (Rollo and Rory), hiking, biking, swimming, paddle boarding, planting flowers (well growing anything really), photography, baking and I’ll stop there😂 I’ve been interested in fitness since the 5th grade, when one of my classmates dad started a gymnastics team at our school. From that time thru high school I was on a gymnastics team. Vixens, your energy and dedication is inspiring, and I’m proud to call myself a Vixen 🦊 Looking forward to an adventurous 2021!!

Introducing Michelle Thompson, Activities Coordinator

Vixens! I’m Michelle and let’s face the truth, I’m probably the least athletic of you all…and that is why I’m your Activities Coordinator on the Velo Vixens Board for 2021! 🤣 Truly though I am in love with nature. I dabble in mountain biking, road biking, hiking, and that one year I did Chattajack in a really expensive kayak in 30 something degree weather and got hypothermia on mile 10. I’m really here for the ladies! I love this club. I have made some of my dearest friends in this club. It’s really a special group of gals who are inspiring, diverse, and honestly pretty rad. 🦊
