Elizabeth Glas: Race Team Member

Elizabeth is passing a SAG station at a race

No need to stop at the aid station, Elizabeth bombs right through.

Where is your homebase Elizabeth?

Pisgah Forest, NC

What type of races do you enjoy?

Mountain Biking, Cyclocross

What have been your 5 race highlights so far?

2013 Black Bear Rampage, 2nd Place, Cat 2 Women 34 & U
2013 Hendersonville Summer Short Track Series, 1st Place Overall, Cat 2 Women
2012 Jackrabbit Big Ring Challenge, 1st Place, 9 Hour Coed Duo (my husband’s first podium… you’re welcome!)
2012 Black Bear Rampage, 1st Place, Cat 2 Women 34 & U
2012 Southeastern Regional Championship Series, 2nd Place Overall, Cat 2 Women

What is a cycling dream you have?

To continue to allow my bike to take me to places.

What has been your best moment with the Velo Vixens so far?

Every moment that I’m hanging out with one or several of my clubmates is the best moment! Some highlights include teaching my peers new mountain biking skills and watching them compete in their first races. Oh, and we throw a damn good party.

CXWhat is your favorite piece of gear? And why?

I REALLY love my bike bling; the “little” things, like my bell, my streamers, and my Martha Stewart battery-powered LED string lights make my bike special, and make me want to ride it!

What’s your advice for a future Velo Vixen?

Join & get involved. Immediately. I spent my first year as a Vixen hanging out in the background, never attending events or volunteering, only reaping the racer benefits. I was really missing out. The racer benefits are good and all, but the heart of the organization is in its members, and your peers have so much knowledge and joy to share with you. Whether its getting together for a ride, volunteering, joining in a meeting or party, or even just going out to grab a beer… get involved. Now that I’m based in North Carolina, this is the part I miss most about the organization… but the organization is THAT GOOD that I’m willing to maintain active membership from 4 hours away.
