March 9th marked the date of the opening race for the Lynskey/SORBA-Chattanooga mountain bike race series in/around Chattanooga. This is the first year for the series, but the 2nd year for the Pick Your Poison XC held at Booker T Washington State Park. The course is beginner-friendly, and offers folks a familiar place to test their mettle in a race, some for the first time!
For some of our Vixens, the Pick Your Poison race has been a “first race ever” opportunity for both of the event’s years. This year we had 8 Vixens participating.
Elizabeth Glas (3rd), Monica Desjardins, and Noel Lawson all competed in the women’s open category, ensuring that points were secured for Lynskey/SORBA overall series. Ginger Sillery roasted the competition with a solid 1st place in women’s sport, with Amy Christian also finishing in a respectable top-half of the category. Veronica Borne (2nd), Heather Hamilton, and Virginia Lee all had incredible results in women’s base category.
Several other Vixens and their families (and our sponsors!) came out to cheer/heckle the competition, hang out, and soak up the sun & fun on what was a perfect spring day!
HUGE thanks to Virginia Lee and Derek Bhimji with Hands-On-Healing Southside (therapeutic massage) for bringing a table and providing Vixens and other racers with muscle tension release post-race! If you didn’t take advantage… you missed out!
Also big thanks to SORBA-Chattanooga for, again, putting together a great race! Looking forward to the next one: Night Shift (6hrs of TNT) on April 12th!
