What have been your 5 race highlights so far?

1) Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga (2015), it was my first half Ironman

2) Fall Creek Falls Olympic Triathlon (2015), second place in age division

3) Lula Lake Land Trust 5-Points 50 (2015), longest distance and time on a mountain bike

4) Frantic Frog Sprint Triathlon (2014), second place in age division, and first triathlon with my fiancé

5) Great Wall of China half marathon (2008), ran with my Dad on the Great Wall

What is a cycling dream of yours?

My fiancé and I are going on a BikeTours.com tour in the South of France for our honeymoon this Spring. I can’t wait to see the Mediterranean, drink great wine, and see beautiful countryside and historic towns by bike.

What is your favorite place to be around Chattanooga?

Although Stringer’s Ridge is my go to place to get on single track within minutes during the work week, I love the many rock climbing crags near Chattanooga.

What has been your best moment on the bike so far this year?

Riding with fellow Vixens at Booker T on a late winter day

What is the first cycling memory you have?

I learned to ride a bike as a kid in south Texas. My mom says she remembers watching me do a U-turn in the middle of the street in front of an oncoming semi-truck and being scared out of her mind. I was completely oblivious.

Why do you like to ride & work-out with other women?

Sometimes I try to show off for boys, especially my fiancé. When I ride with the ladies, the pressure is off.

What has been your best moment with the Velo Vixens so far?

Rina and I organized a Halloween cemetery ride together. I loved every moment of it from mapping out the ride together, to refining the route on our practice rides, to the ride itself. I especially enjoyed getting to know Rina better meeting new ladies, seeing their creative costumes, and introducing them to low-traffic routes that they can use to get across the city.

What is your favorite piece of Gear?

My Goodhew socks are great for cold weather rides, wearing around the house after a long run, and even for avoiding swelling on a long flight.

What is your advice for a future Vixen?

Even if you have a lot on your plate, don’t hesitate to join the Vixens, because you can be as involved as you want to be. You won’t be pressured to over-commit yourself.
